                                                                      JLC Camper vans Contract Terms

By booking with JLC Campers, you accept the conditions of the rental agreement listed below.

1. Charges 

JLC Campers charges follow the current price list displayed on the Website.

To hire one of our vehicles, you will pay the following charges:

1. The rental and any other charges we work out according to this agreement, i.e. hire of additional equipment including chemical toilet, awning, etc.
2. A security deposit which will be utilised for:
   1. a charge for loss or damage as explained in the ‘your responsibility’ section
   2. a refuelling charge if you have used and not replaced more fuel than we supplied originally.
3. On demand, all fines and court costs for parking, traffic, or other offences (including any costs which arise if the vehicle is clamped). You must pay the appropriate authority any fines and costs. If you do not, you will be responsible to pay our reasonable administration charges which arise when we deal with these matters.
4. On demand, the full cost of any insurance excess for repairing or replacing the vehicle if it is damaged or stolen.
5. On demand, any charges made by Customs and Excise as a result of seizure of the vehicle by them, together with a loss of income charge whilst the vehicle is unavailable for rental.
6. Any agreed rates for delivery and collection of the vehicle if not from the standard collection/drop off point
7. Early collection or late drop off

              8.To avoid any disappointment a deposit is required to secure a booking, if deposit is not paid

                  along with Full payment ten days prior to the hire date the vehicle maybe rented to another

                 Customer.

JLC Campers is not currently VAT registered and does not charge VAT.

1. Our insurance 

JLC Campers’ use specialist insurance and do not allow you to self-insure the vehicles.

If JLC Campers arrange separate insurance, you will receive separate information on the insurance cover and any restrictions which may apply. Otherwise, the condition of our insurance (including any waivers of liability) will apply.

We have a legal responsibility to have insurance to meet the RTA requirements. This provides cover for claims made if you injure or kill any 3rd party, whilst driving the vehicle, or damage their property (subject to a minimum cover of £250,000),

JLC Campers will provide cover for theft and damage to the vehicle caused during an attempted theft. You can get details of our minimum legally required Insurance upon request.

In the event of an accident where you ‘the hirer’ is responsible, the insurance policy excess will be due, and you are fully responsible for these costs. The security deposit will be used towards this if needed. The cost of the excess would be £500.

Inclusions Fully Comprehensive Insurance covering one driver. A second named driver will incur an additional fee – only if they meet the insurance criteria. There may be additional charges set by JLC Campers’ insurance company for convictions, claims or other items.

1. Rental Period 

You will have the vehicle for the rental period shown in the agreement. 

We may agree to extend this rental period, but the rental may never exceed 30 days.

If you do not bring the vehicle back at the time agreed, you are breaking the conditions of this agreement. JLC Campers can charge you for every day or part day you have the vehicle after you should have returned it. JLC Campers will charge you the daily rate quoted until the vehicle is returned.

JLC Campers offer unlimited Mileage when hiring the vehicle. Fuel is not included; the Campervan is supplied with a full tank of fuel and must be returned as such.

Full Breakdown and Roadside Assistance cover

Loss or damage to JLC Campers camping equipment, as agreed at the time of the booking, will be charged for at cost for parts and fitting where applicable.

1. JLC Campers’ Responsibilities: 

The vehicle is maintained to at least the manufacturer’s recommended standard.

JLC Campers are responsible if someone is injured or dies as a result of our negligence. JLC Campers are not responsible for any indirect or unforeseeable loss or damage (indirect losses are the losses which happen as a side effect of the main loss or damage). 

Foreseeable losses are the losses arising directly from, for example, the vehicle breaking down (such as the cost of repairing the vehicle or arranging other transport). You or we may not foresee other losses and so, if you want to be able to claim for such losses, JLC Campers recommend that you arrange YOUR OWN Campervan personal insurance.

We are only responsible for property in the vehicle if the loss or damage is a result of our negligence.

JLC Campers undertake that the vehicle is roadworthy and suitable for renting at the start of the rental period. In addition to the above, we are responsible if we break the conditions of the rental agreement in the following ways:

• The vehicle does not correspond to our description of it
• The vehicle is not of the quality that you would be entitled to expect from a rental vehicle
• The vehicle is not fit to drive
• We do not have the right legally to rent out the vehicle.

1. Your Responsibilities - 

                 *Strictly No Off Road Activities / Swamper style trips etc during your hire period.

The use of CIGARETTES and any style of VAPES are strictly not allowed in the Vehicle - There will be NO EXCEPTIONS

*To pay JLC Campers the required Deposit or if less than ten days prior to hire date the full balance.

Failure to pay either will not guarantee a booking.

*Inform JLC Campers of any points, convictions and or pending along with any accidents in the last 5

years regardless of fault.

*Points and Convictions may increase the Security Deposit set by our Insurers Under writers.

*Prior to hire the customer must access and submit back to JLC Campers the DVLA lICENSE code,

along with x2 proof of identity, copies of Driving License for all drivers

You must look after the vehicle and keys to the vehicle. 

You must always lock the vehicle when you are not using it and use any security device fitted in or supplied with the vehicle. 

You must always protect the vehicle against severe weather which can cause damage. 

You must make sure that you use the correct fuel.

You must not deactivate any of the vehicle's added security features.

You are responsible for any damage to the roof or upper part of the vehicle caused by hitting low level objects, such as bridges, low branches, Car Parks etc

You must not sell, rent, loan or dispose of the vehicle or any of its parts.

You must not let anyone work on the vehicle without JLC Campers’ permission. If we do not give you permission, we will only give you a refund for the costs if you produce a receipt for the work.

You must let JLC Campers know as soon as you become aware of a defect to the vehicle.

1. Conditions for using the vehicle.

The vehicle must only be driven by the person named on the rental agreement. Anyone driving the vehicle must have a full, valid driving licence and not be prohibited by law from holding or obtaining such licence.

You or any authorised driver must not do any of the following:

1. Carry passengers for hire or reward
2. Use the vehicle for any illegal purpose
3. Use the vehicle for racing, pace making, testing the vehicle’s reliability and speed or teaching someone to drive
4. Use the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs
5. Carry a number of passengers and/or baggage which would cause the vehicle to be overloaded or in the case of a commercial vehicle, a payload which exceeds the maximum payload and individual axle plated weights or for a purpose which requires an Operator’s Licence where you do not have one.
6. Drive the vehicle outside England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales, unless we have given you permission in writing and appropriate charges paid.

1. What to do if you have an accident. 

If you have an accident, you must not admit responsibility. You should get the names and addresses of everyone involved, including witnesses. You should also make the vehicle secure, inform the Police straight away if anyone is injured or there is a disagreement over who is responsible and call us straight away.

1. Security Deposit 

A security deposit is taken to cover any damage, loss or similar to the Campervan or its equipment. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as it was when the reservation commenced.

A security deposit of £500 is payable 5 days prior to the departure date. Unless other arrangements have been agreed.

The security deposit is payable by Bank Transfer, credit/debit card or PayPal.

Security deposits may increase if points and Convictions are on the Drivers Driving License.

Should an incident occur during hire that results in the loss of the security deposit, a further security deposit must be provided to continue hire. Failure to make payment of a further deposit may render the insurance invalid.

The security deposit is refundable within 1 week following satisfactory return of the vehicle and following an inspection of its condition. Refunds will be processed within this 1-week period, but funds may not clear within this timescale.

The security deposit may however be retained pending the outcome of an insurance claim, regardless of fault.

The security deposit will be charged and lost in the following circumstances:

1. Insurance Excess – The security deposit forms an insurance excess should any claim be made against the insurance
2. Chargeable Fees – If prohibited activity occurs within the vehicle, we will charge the related fee as indicated throughout this document
3. Loss or damage – Including to the vehicle and/or its equipment; including fixtures, fittings, windows, tyres, and extras
4. Cleaning charge if NOT returned in the condition it was collected
5. *Late return, unless agreed prior to departure*

    1. Payment and Cancellation: 

A non-refundable booking deposit is taken when JLC Campers confirms your reservation for the hire vehicle. This cost varies according to the type and duration of your hire. 

The balance is due 4 weeks prior to departure or at the time of booking if less than 4 weeks to departure.

Cancellation over 4 weeks: You have the option to change the booking dates free of charge to a new date. If you wish to cancel your booking you will lose your deposit only. 

Cancellation within 4 weeks of the collection date: If you are not able to proceed with your trip and therefore cancel within 4 weeks prior to your collection date, the full balance will still be required. 

We recommend that you take out holiday insurance that covers cancellation fees.

In the unlikely event that the van is no longer available due to unforeseen circumstances or breakdown occurs for the duration of your trip cutting the trip short a refund will be given.

1. Campervan Cleaning

Understandably, you may have questions regarding hygiene standards. Rest assured, we pride ourselves on delivering five-star experiences, offering a reliable and clean campervan. If you have any specific questions related to hygiene measures, feel free to contact us.

You must bring the vehicle back to the place where we agreed during the opening hours displayed at the rental location. One of our staff must see the vehicle to check that it is in good condition, where we have agreed that you may return the vehicle outside of business hours, you will remain responsible for the vehicle and its condition until it is reinspected by a member of staff.

You will have to pay for cleaning if: -

1. The vehicle needs more than JLC Campers standard valeting (cleaning)
2. You have damaged the inside of the vehicle
3. You have damaged and/or lost any part of the vehicle.
4. JLC Campers hold a strict No Smoking/ Vaping policy in the Camper Van. 

Cleaning – Should the vehicle be returned without being in a clean condition then a cleaning fee's will be charged from;

1. £150 for general valeting
2. £250 if smoking/Vaping has taken place within the vehicle
3. £300 if the portable toilet and waste tank have not been emptied and cleaned.

You must check before you bring back the vehicle that you have not left any personal belongings in the vehicle. JLC Campers are not responsible for any items remaining post-rental.

Your Data 

You agree that JLC Campers may use any information you have given to carry out market research. If you break the agreement JLC Campers can give the information to credit reference agencies, the Driver, and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), debt collectors and any other relevant organisation.
